For nearly 20 years, Tripura Foundation has been committed to abolishing extreme poverty. Through programs designed to eradicate hunger, educate our children, and empower women & girls, we seek to end the cycle of extreme poverty once and for all. Tripura Foundation was founded in 1989 and is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. The founder of the organization, Dr. Baskaran Pillai, felt the need to create a service organization that would alleviate the suffering of people living in abject poverty; those who experience the most severe forms of limitation. To help improve the quality of life for the poverty stricken, we have developed a three-pronged approach to service. First, we recognize the need to provide people with basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter. Then we must provide education to nurture their awareness, creativity and capability to create a brighter future for themselves. Finally, we must provide income opportunities to improve their standard of living. In this way, we can help people to exit the vicious cycle of poverty that has ensnared their lives. Tripura Foundation’s work is made possible by the generosity of donors, foundations, volunteers and friends – all joined together in the spirit of selfless service.
